El lunes de Carnaval es el día grande de la fiesta. Santa Cruz de La Palma lo recibe vestida de riguroso blanco, esperando un desembarco de lo más particular. Mediada la mañana, con la recepción de los estrambóticos embajadores, comienza el Desfile de los Indianos, amable parodia de los canarios que hicieron fortuna en América y regresan a la isla haciendo extravagantes ostentaciones de riqueza. Guayaberas, sombreros de paja, papagayos, mucamas y maletas de cartón rebosantes de dinero falso protagonizan la celebración, que se convierte en una grandiosa batalla de polvos de talco arrullada por los acordes de la música cubana.

En la propia Avenida de los Indianos, frente al Puerto que tantos barcos vio partir y regresar del Caribe, encontramos un restaurante dedicado a esta noble, pagana y parrandera tradición. La decoración está dominada por una exposición del artista palmero Luis Morera, que retrata diversas escenas de la fiesta por las calles de la capital. El local, una antigua y centenaria lonja, es amplio y se despliega sobre dos plantas. El comedor principal, a nivel de calle, incluye reservados y mesas exteriores. Y la planta superior ofrece un servicio especialmente pensado para grupos,  que cotiza al alza entre los organizadores de congresos, eventos y fiestas particulares.

Su menú (extenso, variado y orientado hacia la cocina internacional) acomoda todos los gustos, ya que ofrece sopas, pescados, mariscos, arroces, pastas, carnes y asados. Una potente oferta gastronómica aún más reforzada por su carta de pizzas. Disponemos además de varios platos con nombres estelares como Ensalada Nebulosa de Orión, Lunas de Saturno, Flamenquines Cruz del Sur etc., que justifican la tematización astronómica
del restaurante.

Por otro lado, en nuestro Salón Indiano´s de la planta superior realizamos regularmente diversas actividades lúdicas y culturales como conciertos, exposiciones, etc.

 

 

 

 

 

Carnival Monday is the big day of the fiesta. Santa Cruz de La Palma welcomes it in dressed strictly in white, awaiting a very special disembarkation. Half way through the morning, with the reception of the outlandish ambassadors, the Indianos Parade starts, an affable parody of the Canary Islanders who made their fortune in America and returned to the island, in an ostentatious show of wealth. Cuban “Guayabera” shirts, straw hats, macaws, maids and cardboard suitcases overflowing with false money are the stars of the celebration, which turns into a fantastic talcum powder battle to the strains of Cuban music.

 

Right on Avenida de los Indianos, opposite the port that saw the departure and return of so many ships to and from the Caribbean, you will find a restaurant devoted to this noble, pagan and lively tradition. The decoration is dominated by an exhibition by La Palma artist Luis Morera, who portrays a range of festive scenes in the streets of the city. The premises, a hundred-year-old former fish market, are spacious and laid out on two stories. The main dining room, at street level, includes private areas and outside tables. And the upper floor offers a service specially designed for groups, highly sought after by the organisers of conferences, events and private parties.

 

The menu (extensive, varied and aimed at international cuisine) has something for all tastes, as it offers soups, fish, seafood, rice dishes, pasta, meat and roasts. A powerful range of gastronomic delights enhanced even more by the pizza menu. We also have several dishes with star-related names, such as Orion’s Nebula Salad, the Moons of Saturn, Southern Cross fried ham stuffed with cheese, etc., which justifies the restaurant’s astronomy theme. We also have a projector we use to broadcast astronomy programmes and documentaries.

On the other hand, we regularly organise leisure and cultural activities like concerts, exhibitions, etc., in our Indiano’s Lounge on the top floor.

 

 

 

 

Der Rosenmontag ist der wichtigste Tag des Karnevals. Santa Cruz de La Palma empfängt ihn ganz in weiß gekleidet und erwartet eine ganz besondere Landung. Gegen die Mitte des Vormittags beginnt mit dem Empfang der närrischen Botschafter der Umzug der Indianos, eine liebenswürdige Parodie der Kanarier, die in Amerika zu Reichtum gekommen sind und auf die Insel zurückkommen indem sie extravagant ihre Reichtümer zur Schau stellen. Buschhemden, Strohhüte, Papageien, Dienstmädchen, Kartonkoffer voller Falschgeld sind die Hauptpersonen der Feier, die schließlich in einer grandiosen Puderschlacht endet, die von den Akkorden kubanischer Musik begleitet wird.

 

Auf der Avenida de los Indianos, gegenüber dem Hafen, der so viele Schiffe in die Karibik ablegen und von dort zurückkommen sah, finden wir ein Restaurant, das sich dieser noblen, heidnischen und rummelhaften Tradition widmet. Die Dekoration wird von einer Ausstellung des in La Palma ansässigen Künstlers Luis Morera beherrscht, der verschiedene Szenen des Fests in den Straßen der Hauptstadt portraitiert. Das Lokal, eine alte, hundertjährige Warenbörse ist weitläufig und zieht sich über zwei Stockwerke hin. Der hauptsächliche Speisesaal im Erdgeschoss verfügt über Séparées und Tische im Freien. Und im oberen Stock wird eine besonders für Gruppen gedachte Dienstleistung angeboten, die sich bei den Organisatoren von Kongressen, Events und privaten Festen immer größerer Beliebtheit erfreut.

 

Das (reichhaltige, abwechslungsreiche und auf internationale Küche ausgerichtete) Menü wird jedem Geschmack gerecht, da es Suppen, Fischgerichte, Meeresfrüchte, Reisgerichte, Nudelgerichte, Fleischgerichte und Braten bietet. Ein gehaltvolles gastronomisches Angebot, das noch durch die Pizzakarte verstärkt wird. Wir verfügen außerdem über verschiedene Gerichte mit Sternennamen wie Salat des Orionnnebels, Saturnmonde, Flamenquines (in Schinken gewickelte Fleischröllchen) Kreuz des Südens usw., die die astronomische Thematik des Restaurants rechtfertigen. Es wurde auch ein Videosystem eingerichtet, über das Programme und Dokumentarfilme über astronomische Themen vermittelt werden.

 

Andererseits organisieren wir in unserem Salón Indiano´s im oberen Stockwerk regelmäßig verschiedene spielerische und kulturelle Aktivitäten wie Konzerte, Ausstellungen usw.
