El Hoyo de Mazo disfruta de uno de los microclimas más privilegiados de La Palma. Protegido de los alisios de forma natural, esta pequeña hondonada abierta al Este disfruta de gloriosos amaneceres y temperaturas apacibles. No por casualidad, sigue siendo una de las zonas agrícolas más importantes de la comarca, especialmente para el cultivo de la vid.

Disfrutar de los primeros rayos de la mañana bajo el voladizo de Finca Arminda y dejarse reconfortar por su generoso desayuno, es una inmejorable forma de comenzar el día. El centenario edificio se mantiene en un estado impecable y atesora una impresionante colección de muebles y objetos de época, traspasados de generación en generación. Su estructura pivota en torno a un patio central, alrededor del cual se disponen las habitaciones.

La propiedad se expande hacia unos frondosos jardines cuajados de flores, que incluyen dos piscinas (una para los adultos y otra para los más pequeños), además de un estilizado reloj solar.  Y el conjunto está a su vez envuelto por una finca de plátanos que certifica, por así decirlo, la subtropicalidad del entorno.

Al caer la noche, llega el momento de disfrutar del cielo. En la zona de la piscina, un mural nos orienta sobre las constelaciones visibles en cada época del año. En el interior nos espera un rincón con libros, planisferios y documentación astronómica en general. Y además podremos solicitar el acceso a una tableta iPad, que incluye aplicaciones para interpretar el lienzo de estrellas que encontraremos desplegado sobre el horizonte.

 

 

 

 

Hoyo de Mazo enjoys one of the best micro-climates of La Palma. Naturally sheltered from the Trade Winds, this small, east-facing hollow enjoys glorious sunrises and mild temperatures. It is no coincidence that it remains one of the most important farming areas of the district, especially for growing grape vines.

Enjoying the first rays of dawn under the overhang of Finca Arminda and allowing yourself to be comforted by their generous breakfast is an unbeatable way of starting your day. The hundred-year-old building is kept in an impeccable state and it houses an impressive collection of furniture and objects from different ages, handed down from one generation to another. The structure is organised around a central courtyard, with the bedrooms laid out around it.

The property opens up to lush gardens carpeted with flowers, and two swimming pools too (one for adults and the other one for children), apart from a stylish sun dial. The grounds, in turn, are surrounded by a banana plantation, certifying the sub-tropical character of the environment. 

When night falls, the time has come to enjoy the sky. In the pool area, a mural will guide us around the constellations that are visible at any one time of year. Inside, there is a special corner with books, star maps and general astronomy documentation. Moreover, you can ask for an i-Pad, programmed with applications to interpret the canvass of stars that unfold before you on the horizon.

 

 

 

In Hoyo de Mazo herrscht ein Mikroklima, das zu den privilegiertesten von La Palma gehört. Auf natürliche Weise gegen die Passatwinde geschützt kann man in dieser nach Osten hin sich öffnenden Niederung glorreiche Sonnenaufgänge und angenehme Temperaturen genießen. Es ist kein Zufall, dass es sich hier um eine der wichtigsten Gegenden für den Ackerbau und besonders den Weinbau in diesem Landstrich handelt.
Bei einem großzügigen Frühstuck die erste Morgensonne unter dem Vordach von Finca Arminda zu genießen ist eine unvergleichlich gute Art, den Tag zu beginnen. Das hundertjährige Gebäude ist in ausgezeichnetem Zustand und beherbergt eine beeindruckende Sammlung altertümlicher Möbel und Gegenstände, die von Generatio zu Generatio weitergegeben wurden. Das Gebäude umrundet einen zentralen Innenhof, um den die Zimmer gelegen sind.
Der Besitz geht weiter zu dichten, blumenbewachsenen Gärten, in denen es zwei Schwimmbecken (eines für Erwachsene und ein weiteres für die Kleinen) und eine stilisierte Sonnenuhr gibt. Dies alles wird seinerseits von einem Bananenhain umgeben, was sozusagen das subtropische Klima der Umgebung darstellt.
Wenn dann die Nacht kommt, ist es Zeit, den Himmel zu genießen. Im Bereich des Schwimmbads orientiert uns ein Wandgemälde bezüglich der Sternbilder, die in der jeweiligen Jahreszeit zu sehen sind. Im Inneren erwartet uns eine Ecke mit Büchern, Himmelskarten und allgemeiner astronomischer Dokumentation. Und außerdem können wir ein iPad Tablet anfordern, auf dem es Applikationen gibt, die dabei helfen, das Sternengemälde über dem Horizont zu interpretieren.
